FILMS AGAINST THE MACHINE(S)
A GAME OF FOOLS
A GAME OF FOOLS
Directed by Yvan Gauthier, this short film A GAME OF FOOLS (PIQUE NIQUE DOUILLE) was shot in 1994, with some spare Kodakrome super 8 film stock, turned to black & white in post production.
the original version of the script was written by Bernard Jeanjean, with whom I worked on several films back in the early nineties. Bernard became a successful writer/director in the French film industry and theater plays.
We love this film as it encapsulate the essence of what we want to convey with FILMS AGAINST THE MACHINES, a combination of entertainment, and something to think about. Here, under the excuse of a Tarantino inspired film, it really shows the game of power that the elites are playing with the litlle people who are brainwashed into hating each other, believing that they'll be able to survive by actually killing their peers, rather than aiming at the real culprit, just above them. This is a film literally showing that the "horizontal conflicts" aren't the ones to fight, as they can only lead to self destruction, but the vertical conflicts are the real ones to fights, we just need to look above at who is pulling the strings!
